Ten walks kept Salt Lake’s lineup in motion Thursday night, turning nearly every patch of traffic into another test for an Albuquerque pitching staff that never found command. The Bees paired those free passes with 15 hits, scored in four innings and beat the Isotopes 10-5 at Isotopes Park.
Albuquerque produced 12 hits of its own. Charlie Condon launched his 26th home run, Tyler Freeman collected three hits and two RBIs, and the Isotopes twice mounted an answer. Each time, Salt Lake came back with something larger.
Eiberson Castellano’s trouble began in the first, when Nelson Rada and Raudi Rodriguez opened with singles. Two groundouts brought home two runs before Castellano escaped. He held the Bees scoreless over the next two innings, but his final line reflected the strain: two earned runs, four walks and three strikeouts in three innings.
Patrick Weigel inherited the problem in the fourth. Salt Lake used two hits, an error and another walk to stretch its lead to 4-0, with Sebastián Rivero’s groundout and Ben Gobbel’s single driving in runs.
Condon supplied Albuquerque’s first answer in the bottom half. With two outs, he sent a line drive carrying deep into left-center, beyond Bryce Teodosio and over the wall for a solo homer.
The response lasted only until the next half-inning. Weigel walked Logan Porter, allowed a bloop double to Arol Vera and walked Rada to load the bases. Rodriguez lined a single into center, sending Porter and Vera home and restoring Salt Lake’s five-run advantage. Weigel left after allowing two earned runs and three walks in one inning.
Albuquerque’s best rally followed. Chad Stevens drove a ball into the right-center gap, where Rada’s diving attempt came up empty on the warning track. Stevens reached third, then scored when Nic Kent hammered a double that one-hopped the wall in right-center. After Drew Avans walked and a double play moved Kent to third, Freeman bounced a double into left to make it 6-3.
Stevens finished 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs. Kent went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, part of the production that kept the Isotopes within reach through five innings.
The game broke open in the sixth. Yolmer Sánchez doubled, Gobbel walked and Porter sent a grounder off Stevens’ glove and into shallow left-center. Both runners scored, with Gobbel beating Sterlin Thompson’s throw home. A Vera single followed before Rodriguez and Niko Kavadas added run-scoring hits off Jeff Criswell, completing a four-run inning and pushing the lead to 10-3.
All four runs were charged to Hayden Harris, who worked 1 2/3 innings. Criswell stopped the inning there and struck out four over 1 1/3 scoreless innings, including all three batters he faced in the seventh. Mason Green added two scoreless innings.
Freeman’s third hit brought Stevens home in the seventh, capping a 3-for-5 day with a double and two RBIs. Albuquerque added its final run in the ninth after consecutive hits by Kent and Avans, with Jose Cordova’s sacrifice fly scoring Kent.
By then, the Isotopes’ offense was working against the weight of too many Salt Lake opportunities. Rodriguez finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs, and Porter reached repeatedly from the lower half of the order.
Albuquerque’s pitchers ultimately issued 10 walks, while Salt Lake’s staff allowed only two. That difference gave the Bees enough chances to withstand every Isotopes response.
